LRC at King Pocky's 2016 Derwentwater Regatta
By Lakeland Rowing Club, Jul 9 2016 09:00PM
King Pocky's Derwent Water Regatta in Crow Park in Keswick is an event organised by the National Trust offering low-cost watersports and free family activities.
This year LRC had a stand at the event with a 250m Ergo Challenge which proved to be very popular in spite of the rain. The club also took the opportunity to offer visitors to the event Rowing Taster sessions in one of our stable boats.
We had a great dayout at the event, and it was a real joy to meet new people and prospective members.
The winners of the LRC Derwentwater Regatta 250m Ergo Sprint Challenge were:
Maggie Ulyatt - Women's Category Winner with a time of 50.1 seconds.
Paul "The Powerhouse" Whittam - Men's Category Winner with a time of 39.6 seconds (what a beast!)
Stella Clarke - Junior Girl's Category Winner with a time of 1 minute 16.1 seconds.
Adrian A - Junior Boy's Category Winner with a time of 50.6 seconds.
Thank you to everyone who joined in and a big well done to the winners. Maggie & Paul have both won the offer of half price membership of Lakeland Rowing Club for the next year. Adrian has won a gift voucher which was generously donated by Needle Sports in Keswick, and Stella has won a gift voucher which was generously donated by Temple Sports in Keswick.
We had a great day at Derwentwater Regatta and managed to raise a decent amount of money for the club with our Ergo Challenge. A big thank to National Trust North West for inviting LRC to attend today, and well done for running such a great event. Our special thanks also to Needle Sports and Temple Sports for their generous prize fund donations, and for their contributions to the LRC fundraising pot.
Massive thanks also go to the LRC Club Chairman John Knox for organising a great stand and shepherding the various volunteers at Derwentwater Regatta.
