LRC Boat Fund 2016 Update
By Lakeland Rowing Club, Mar 30 2016 03:08PM
In January 2016 Lakeland Rowing Club set up it's first Boat Fund to help raise money towards much needed equipment. LRC Boat Fund 2016 is aiming to raise £5,000 to help us support some grant funding toward the purchase of three main items that the Club needs:-
1) A new lightweight rowing boat trailer that will allow us to take our own boat to Head Races and Regattas (as opposed to constantly asking other clubs if we can borrow boats)
2) Our own safety boat and engine - since we row on such a large lake then the safety of all our learn to rowers (Juniors and Adults) is paramount. Having our own safety boat also means we can provide better coaching for all our competitive squads
3) A new set of sculling riggers for a used 4++ we bought from York City RC last year. This will add a big boost to our fleet.
So how is the LRC Boat Fund 2016 doing?
In the last 2 months we have gone from £0 to £1570 that is more than 31% of our target achieved already. We have received a number of generous personal donations from both parents of our Juniors Section and also Senior Members.
In particular we would like to thank the Andrew and Emma from the Keswick Post Office for sponsoring us and also The Keswick Lions Club, both organisations have been most generous. The current level of funds now means that the Club can now proceed with the purchase of our own lightweight trailer and we can enter more races and compete at more events.
The Club is also pleased to report it is now registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) which means we can claim Gift Aid on all donations made by UK taxpayers.
