Ally, Gordon, Andy and Mark set out on the Tour de Windermere
A crew from Lakeland Rowing Club has completed the rowing equivalent of a marathon, circumnavigating England’s largest natural lake in testing conditions.
The 21-mile sponsored journey around Windermere took five-and-a-half hours and raised more than £300 towards the Portinscale-based club’s new facilities.

Lakeland Rowing Club fielded its largest ever competition entry at Talkin Tarn ARC’s annual regatta, held at the tarn near Brampton, on Saturday.
Nineteen crews of scullers, ranging in age from 14 to 66, represented the Derwentwater-based club in singles, doubles, quads and a pair, winning several semi-finals and two finals at the highly competitive 230-race event.

Derwentwater is fast becoming the destination of choice for a new breed of sporting tourists, filling beds in hostels and bringing a revenue boost to the area.
Thanks to the marketing efforts of Lakeland Rowing Club, top oarsmen and women from around the country are flocking to the lake to train.
