A crew from Lakeland Rowing Club has completed the rowing equivalent of a marathon, circumnavigating England’s largest natural lake in testing conditions.
The 21-mile sponsored journey around Windermere took five-and-a-half hours and raised more than £300 towards the Portinscale-based club’s new facilities.
Lakeland Rowing Club fielded its largest ever competition entry at Talkin Tarn ARC’s annual regatta, held at the tarn near Brampton, on Saturday.
Nineteen crews of scullers, ranging in age from 14 to 66, represented the Derwentwater-based club in singles, doubles, quads and a pair, winning several semi-finals and two finals at the highly competitive 230-race event.
On Sunday 30th April 2017 a group of scullers from the Portinscale-based Lakeland Rowing Club celebrated a Club record number of entries and came away with triumphant trio of wins at the Chester-Le-Street Regatta.
